2 WELCOME “This webinar will focus upon how assessment can be made more relevant to the education and larger community – a method for the Arts to lead the way in changing education to meet student learning needs.”

3 Presenters & Agenda Vicki Breen, Arts Consultant, NM PED, Introduction of panel and Elementary Arts Education Program; summary of the emergence of the elementary electronic portfolio initiatives. Tyson Ledgerwood, Elementary Arts Coordinator, Hobbs Municipal Schools: Electronic portfolio design beginning with 3 rd and 4 th grade students through higher education students through music, dance, theater and visual arts. Sally Fitzgibbon, High School Art Teacher, Los Alamos Public Schools: Overview of beginning of Los Alamos Schools focus on art and music teachers instructing all 4 th – 6 th grade students in how to develop and maintain and post their electronic portfolios on district cyberspace.

Bonnie Bernal, Elementary Art Teacher, Estancia Municipal Schools elementary student electronic portfolios using Davis e-portfolio and e-books. Brooke Gold, Elementary Art Teacher, Rio Rancho Public Schools: Electronic portfolios at 3 rd grade. Her work toward advanced degree with this focus.

6 Elementary Arts Program – Fine Arts Education Act This program was enacted to provide funding to encourage school districts to offer opportunities for elementary school students to participate in arts education, including music, dance, theatre and visual arts.
