Woodland Middle School FLOOR HOCKEY

Ice hockey is a team sport played on ice in which two teams of skaters use a stick to shoot a hockey puck into the net of the opponent. History: the sport is believe to be an off-shoot of stickball games that were from the United Kingdom in the early 1800’s. These games were brought to Canada and the United States and several similar winter games developed. The first indoor hockey game was played on March 3, 1875, in Montreal, and some characteristics of that game such as the length of the ice rink and the use of a puck have been retained to this day.
