Definition  A withdrawing or separation of a person or a person's affections from an object or position of former attachment

Alienation Examples  When you are with a group of people and you don’t feel a connection to any of them so you go on your own.  The boy choose to alienate himself by sitting on the empty table in the classroom.  I would rather go read in the library during lunch than to talk to my friends.  My dad alienated himself from us after the divorce, now in only see him once a month.

Why do teens alienate themselves?  There are many reasons why teens alienate themselves.  One reason could be that they are trying to find out who they are becoming and need to have their own space  Another reason might be a physical reason, they can feel unsure/uncomfortable with the way they look  Loneliness. They lost someone or something and the only way they can cope with it is to be alone and deal with their own feelings.

What it feels to be alienated Remember that alienation feels different depending on whether it’s a personal choice or done by others.  Sad  Depressed  Relieved  Relaxed  Happy  Alone
