Fourth grade is an exciting learning and growing experience. The student’s personal responsibility is essential to success in fourth grade. You will be amazed at what they can do!

Parents make a difference in our classroom!! Your children love your involvement. Please VOLUNTEER!! If there is something you are concerned about or just want to comment on, please share with us, we are flexible and open to ideas.

REMIND 101  This is a text system which will be another way that we can communicate with parents/students. The system allows us to send reminders of homework, field trip, and etc. in a short text. This text system for communication will be optional.  This is the Yellow paper on your desk today.

Comprehension Accuracy & fluency Expand our vocabulary Writing skills with Write Reflections Reading

At Home Reading—Reading Response  At 20 minutes FIVE days per week will be required. This is a time for your student to practice the strategies that we are working on in class.  10 books per term—40 total Book responses for the year  Summarize books they read

SPELLING—  Words will come home on Monday and tests will be given on Friday.  Students should plan on spending a few minutes each night studying their spelling words.  Spelling City great website

MATH  Modeling with manipulatives  Homework will often be a few problems of what we did in class not always a worksheet. Students should come home able to do this on their own.  Parents can always help by encouraging and practicing basic facts.  Playing cards will be used as number cards

SCIENCE—  Rocks  Fossils  Weather  Water cycle  Utah Environments

SOCIAL STUDIES—  4 th grade’s emphasis is Utah History  Geography of Utah  Utah history and historical figures  Cultural diversity in Utah  Economic activity in Utah  State and local government

BIRTHDAYS--  Treats are welcome, but please follow the school guidelines that are in the handbook. Treats can be handed out before lunch or before the end of the school day.  Summer birthdays will be celebrated on ½ birthdays!
