Environmental Safety Plans Home and Office Jeanee Chappell, Rachael Groves, Misty Teerman, Emma Zechiel

What is Environmental Safety? Achieved By The purpose of Environmental Health and Safety is to ensure the safety and physical well being of people in both the home and work place. Inspections Environmental surveillance training Hazardous chemical management Plans review

Protecting The Ones You Love From Injury Knowing how to prevent leading causes of child injury, like poisoning, is a step toward this goal. Keep medications and toxic chemicals locked up. Keep important numbers on hand Read directions and warning labels before giving children medication. Properly dispose of old, unused medications by dissolving in kitty litter

Protecting Children from Burn Injuries In emergency rooms all over the US, at least 300 children are treated for burn injuries everyday. Install and maintain smoke alarms in your home. Have an escape plan and practice with your family. Never leave cooking food and hot stoves unattended.

Keeping Older Adults Safe Reduce tripping hazards Apply grab bars in the bathroom. Add railings to both sides of stairs. Make sure the home is well lit with proper lighting.

What is Office Safety? Office safety implies the minimization of accidents at the work place. Some simple changes can eliminate hazards and reduce the risks of on the job injuries.

Protecting yourself from bodily fluids in the office. Wear gloves Ensure that all needles are safely placed into the sharps container. Utilize biohazard containers Wear gloves when changing the biohazard bags and sharps containers. Wear gowns and safety goggles when appropriate

Simple Tips for Safety in the Office. Keep all entry and exits clear. Clean up any spills properly and place down wet floors signs to alert others of a wet floor. Clean and sanitize each room after every patient leaves. Have Fire exits and evacuation routes clearly displayed in every room. Make sure every staff member is familiar with the tornado safety plan, and have the tornado safety area clearly marked. Remove all rugs from the offices Be sure there is good lighting through out the office.

Body Fluid Spill Clean-up Procedure Personal Protective Equipment Materials to clean with Small spills of body fluids such as a small pool of blood that has a risk of splashing has requirements for staff with the correct PPE Also protective clothing such as boots and coveralls may be worn depending on the size and risk of splash during clean up. Absorbent powders paper towels disinfecting chemicals with 10% bleach
