Background Information Who are after school programs for? What is an at risk kid? Why more After school programs? “More than 70% of U.S. Children have parents who work outside the home, leaving 15 million unsupervised youth when the school day ends and three times more likely to engage in crime, drugs, alcohol, and sexual activity.” (After School All-Stars). Purpose of After school programs? “After-school programs can provide enrichment activities that develop students' academic and social skills.” (David).
