Sidney Poitier Sidney Poitier opened the door for African Americans everywhere to act in movies. His first movie was ‘In The Heat of The Night.’ His most famous movie was ‘Lilies of The Field’ in which he was one of the first African Americans to win a Best Actor Award.

Elizabeth Taylor Elizabeth Taylor’s movie ‘Butterfield 8’ was widely known and also won her a Best Actress Award at the 1960’s Academy Awards. Her next movie was just as splendid, when she played the great Cleopatra in the movie Cleopatra. Elizabeth’s last movie, ‘Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf’ earned her another Best Actress Award.

Paul Newman Paul Newman started off with a huge hit called ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ in which he starred in with Elizabeth Taylor. He then moved on to act out a character in the film ‘HUD.’ Finally in 1969 he finished his movie ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.’

In the 1930’s the greatest feat of technology was having movies with color and sound. Also another good portion of the movies during the 1960s were romance. This was probably because there was a lot of hippies who strongly treasured love.
