Unit 13: Lesson 2 Prepositional Phrases as Adjectives

Remember adjectives? They describe nouns or pronouns. They answer the questions: 1.What kind? 2.Which one? 3.How many?

A prepositional phrase can also describe nouns or pronouns. Remember, a prepositional phrase is a group of words containing a preposition, its object, and any modifiers of the object. A prepositional phrase that describes a noun or pronoun is called an adjective phrase.

Like adjectives, an adjective phrase answers questions such as… 1. which one? Everyone in the gym cheered. 2. what kind? I brought a blanket with blue stripes.

Unlike regular adjectives though, adjective phrases usually come after the words they modify. AdjectiveAdjective Phrase Wild lionLion in the wild Neighborhood dogsDogs of the neighborhood
