Natural Resources What is a natural resource?

Natural Resources Natural Resources are materials found in nature that can be used by people. Each ecosystem has its own unique natural resources.

Renewable vs. Nonrenewable Resources Renewable Resource: a natural resource that can be replaced as quickly as it is used up. Ex- WIND Nonrenewable Resource: a natural resource that is replaced much more slowly than it is used up. Ex- COAL

What is the Rock Cycle? The rock cycle is a series of processes by which rocks change from one type to another.

Sedimentary Rock Sedimentary rocks- form when particles from natural materials get pressed and cemented together.

Igneous Rock Igneous rock- forms when magma or lava cools and hardens to become solid. Magma- melted rock below the ground Lava- melted rock above the ground

Metamorphic Rock Metamorphic rock- forms when pressure and temperature change existing rock.
