Agenda What should a slide do? What makes a bad slide? What makes a good slide? Choose Your Style General Recommendations Tips What program should I use? What format should I use? Questions

What should a slide do?  Create a sense of welcome  Support the subject  Enhance the presentation  Provide focus for attendees  Foster clarity/understanding

What makes a bad slide?  Clutter  Contradictions  Poor Readability  Too Much Verbiage

What makes a good slide?  Components that Contribute  White Space  Readability  Color

What makes a good slide?  Components that Contribute  White Space  Readability  Color  Consistency  Key Speaking Points

What NOT to do on a slide. Don’t let your ‘ego’ or your ‘artist’ create the presentation on their own. It will take cooperation from all your talents to create something that is readable and consistent that supports your ideas/concepts and actually helps the individual watching/listening understand what you are trying to convey. As you can see this slide color is not a good choice, nor is the font style/size/color. Where is the white space? Where are my contributing supporters? Is this my script? What happened to my audience. Ooops! They have left the presentation. Drat!

What makes a good slide?

Choosing Your Style  Think about what you are presenting.  Establish a master slide using  Colors  Images  Fonts  Why establish a master slide?

What program should I use?

Whatever you are most comfortable using.

What format should I use?  For the purposes of your Big Marker webinar, convert your file to PDF.  This is the upload format that Big Marker recommends.  It creates an image that remains constant and is not easily subject to corruption.

Questions If you have a question, now is the time. Please raise your hand (click on the little hand icon in the lower left corner of screen). When I call on you, you may either type your question in the chat box or use your microphone.

Thank you. Merci.
