Presentation transcript:

All stringed instruments make sound and notes by vibrating. Musicians make the strings vibrate by rubbing against it. Most stringed instrument have something that amplifies the sound. The sound box is often the longest part of the instrument or the body of the instrument. The top of the sound box is called the sound board is usually made of a type of wood that vibrates. There are three ways that strings can produce different notes: Length- longer strings vibrate slower and make lower sounding notes than shorter things. weight- heathy, thick strings make louder notes than higher things. Tightness- a tight string makes a higher note than a loose string. Different strings instruments are played in different ways. Some are plucked or strumming with your fingers String instrument

A major family of instruments is the brass instrument. It includes the trumpet, tuba, trombone,French horn, bugle and cornet. They are used in all sorts of music making a brilliant and often loud sound The main difference between brass instruments and other instruments is how the vibration to create sound and notes is made. With a brass instrument the vibration is created by the lips of the musicians. By pressing the lips up against the mouthpiece and blowing a vibration is created. The rest of the horn helps to amplify the noise and create different notes. This is different from the woodwind family where the air blowing across an edge or reed causes of the vibration Brass instruments are all used in all sorts of music. Some of the most popular type of brass music is played in some big bands, classics and jazz. One of the main places we see instruments is in a marching bands this is because brass instruments can be played loudly without electricity amplification, plus they can be played and carried while marching

Woodwinds are a type of musical instrument that make there sound when a musician blows air in to across the mouthpiece. They get their name from the fact that most of them were once made of wood. Today many are made of other materials such as metal or plastic. There are lots of types of woodwinds including the flute and clarinet. They all look similar in that they are all longed tubes of various sides with metal keys that cover the holes when played to make different notes. The bigger woodwind instruments the lower the sound they make Woodwinds can be divided up into two main types of instruments flute instruments make sound when the musician blows air across it.

A percussion instruments is a musical instrument that is sounded by being stroked or scraped by a beater. The percussion family is believed to include the oldest musician instruments Percussions are commonly divided into two classes pitch, percussion instruments, which produce notes with an identifiable pitch. percussion instruments which produce notes without an identifiable pitch.
