Our Goals We use data to determine Which schools we should target Which program areas need more focus Which courses and teachers would benefit from our support New and Lateral Entry Teachers are our main group (improve teacher retention), but veteran teachers that need assistance can be identified using the data as well.

Our Goals continued… We look at overall data to: Determine the greatest opportunities for networking PLT collaboration to improve performance Develop an Instructional Improvement Plan

Mining the Data Activity Materials Needed: Assigned School Card, Data Sheet for FN41-Foods and Nutrition I, Blueprint, and the Instructional Improvement Plan worksheet

Mining the Data Activity Step 1 - Exam the data Step 2 - What standards did your school do well in? Which are your greatest opportunities for improvement?

Mining the Data Activity Step 3 - Focus on learner Determine which standards you will target. Look at your blueprint to see how those low performing standards are weighted. Consider other factors as to why students may not have done well. Prioritize and narrow down to three (3)

Mining the Data Activity Step 4 – Record on your Instructional Improvement Plan worksheet Standards selected and data for county and school. List possible causes for lowest levels of proficiency

Step 5 – Focus on Teaching Examine instruction Decide if other instructional strategies need to be implemented Collaborate with other teachers in your school or PLT for ideas Implement with your lesson plans Assess periodically to see if adjustments are effective (if not, try other strategies) Mining the Data Activity

Step 6 – Expect great results! Mining the Data Activity
