how does human eye works? Human eye works similar to camera, each part in the human eye plays in a vital role to provide clear vision. So, we can say that.
Refraction (bending light) Refraction is when light bends as it passes from one medium into another. When light traveling through air passes into the glass.
Convex and Concave Lenses.  A concave lens is thicker at the edges than it is at the center.  It spreads light waves apart.
Application of Lenses Lenses in Eyes
Compare and Contrast convex and concave Lenses (order jumbled) Convex lenses are wider in the middle than they are at the edges and concave lenses are.
The Eye. Eyelids Tear duct Cornea – skin that covers front of eye. Lets light pass into the eye. Iris – changes in size depending on light intensity.

Virtual images Real Images A real image is where light rays meet. The light rays that reach your eyes from the direction of the image actually pass through.
Light and Sight Progress Test. Light is a form of energy 1. True 2. False.
Lenses. Applications of Light Refraction What are some common applications of the refraction of light? Cameras Microscopes Lenses Eyeglasses Human eye.

Geometric Optics. An object inside the focus casts a virtual image that is only focused by the eye.
Eye defects 11.4 Eye defects How many people in the class are wearing glasses? Do you know the reasons?
Lenses – Application of Refraction AP Physics B. Lenses – An application of refraction There are 2 basic types of lenses A converging lens (Convex) takes.
You should be able to: Draw ray diagrams for converging and diverging lenses Use the equation 1/u+1/v =1/f for converging lenses Perform.
The Human Eye. A convex lens is the type of lens found in your eye. The lens takes light rays spreading out from objects and focuses the light, through.
Vision. Normal Vision light is focused directly on the retina - can see clearly both near & far.
Lenses There are two types: Concave Lenses
Advanced Reflections. All light will reflect off a mirror at the same angle it enters in relation to the normal Even curved mirrors.
Human Vision. Correcting Focus Problems Near-sighted vision  Can not clearly focus on distant objects.  Occurs because the lens converges the light.
Ray Diagrams for Lenses. Convex (Converging) Lenses There are two Focal points One in Front and one Behind Focal point is ½ way between Center of Curvature.
The Eye. The Human Eye The human eye is the optical instrument that helps most of us learn about the external world.
The Eye and Sight Chapter 12. Vision begins when light rays are reflected off an object and enter the eyes through the cornea, the transparent outer covering.
HUMAN EYE AND LENSES. INTRODUCTION Eye is the light-sensitive organ of vision in animals. The actual process of seeing is performed by the brain rather.
Lenses Convex lenses converge rays of light. Parallel rays converge a fixed distance away from the lens. This is known as the focal length.
What is the function of this chart ? What eye defect you may suffer if you see the distant object like this?

Convex and Concave Lenses
HEALTH Convex lenses bring rays to a focus. The more curved the lens, the quicker the rays are focussed. Convex lenses bring rays to a focus. The more curved.

1 REFRACTION OF LIGHT. 2 Chapter 18 Objectives: 1) Define refraction of light including examples. 2) Know which direction a light ray bends as it travels.
Refraction. Refraction of Light When light waves pass from one medium to the next, its speed changes, causing it to bend. Going from lower to higher index.
Section first # represents how far away from the chart the person can stand and still be able to read a particular line second # is how far away.

Presentation transcript:

Eye Defects - Lens- -Retina- By Daniel Drummond Graeme Paterson Conor McHugh

Activity 1 – Aim: To find out where the light is focused in a normal eye ₪ Demonstration ₪Explanation

Activity 2 – Aim: To find out where light is focused in a short-sighted eye and find out how to correct this defect ₪ Demonstration ₪Explanation

Activity 3 – Aim: To find out where light is focused in a long-sighted eye and to find out how to correct this defect ₪ Demonstration ₪Explanation

You Should Now Know: That short-sighted people can see close objects but far away objects are blurred That long-sighted people can see far away objects but close objects are blurred

You Should Also Know: That in short-sighted eyes, the light rays are focussed to a point before they get to the retina That in long-sighted eyes, the light rays are not focussed to a point by the time they reach the retina and the focus would be behind the retina

You Should Also Know: That concave lenses are used to correct short-sight That convex lenses are used to correct long- sight
