Native American population has mixed Spanish cultural elements with their ancestors traditions. Spanish-speaking culture mainly follows Western customs. 3 Distinct Historical Periods – Pre-Columbian, Colonial, & Republican Archaeological ruins, gold & silver ornaments, stone monuments, ceramics, weaving.

Mestizo Baroque Spaniards brought their own traditions of religous art which developed into a rich & distinctive style of architecture, literature, and sculpture. Colonial Period Producde several unknown stonecutters, woodcarvers, goldsmiths, & silversmiths Famous artists from the era: Perez de Holguin, Flores, Bitti Native baroque religious music was discovered recently and has been performed around the world by artists such as: Guzman de Rojas, Arturo Borda, maria Luisa Pacheco, Master William Vega, Alfredo Da Silva, Marina Núñez del Prado.

Pagan rites from the pre-Columbian era are still common during the religious festivals. Clothing during festivals is reminiscent of the dress of pre- Columbian Indians and 16th Century Spaniard. Devil dances at the annual carnival of Oruro are among the great folkloric evens of South America.

Songs and dances contain elements from both the native and the European cultures. Caporales is a very popular Bolivian dance today not just where it originated in the Highlands but also in the Lowlands and in Bolivian communities outside of the country. Bolivian Andean women of indigenous descent often wear a skirt called a pollera. Originally a Spanish peasant skirt that the colonial authorities forced indigenous women.
