Water Conservation PARKVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Residential  Low-flush toilets- Low flush only uses 1.6 gallons of water compared to a normal flush of 3.5 gallons.  Toilet displacement devices- plastic containers can be filled with sand or pebbles and placed in the toilet to reduce to reduce the amount of water flushed.  Landscape Irrigation- Using plants that need little water and grouping plants that have the same water needs. Also scheduling lawn irrigation for early morning or evening hours can reduce water that is evaporated

Commercial  Lower water Pressure- make sure the water pressure is around 50 psi. installing a pressure reduction valve can help reduce water pressure as high as 100 psi.  Water reuse/ recycle- reuse the waste/reclaimed water from one application to another application. For example, using waste water for irrigational purposes.  Constant leak detection- identify and fix leaks in pipes. Repairing controls loss of water.

Total water saved in one year The total water you can save yearly is 1.6x10^10
