Hollywood is a district in the central region of Los Angeles, California, in the United States. It is notable for its place as the home of the entertainment and film industry.

Major motion-picture companies had set up production near or in Los Angeles, and they all choosed Hollywood, because its ideal climate condition, when they moved from west coast of America from the places like New Jersey.

The name "Hollywood" is often applied to any film or TV production location within Greater Los Angeles, whether or not it is actually physically located within Hollywood itself.

Since 2002, the Oscars have been held at the Dolby Theater at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

The famous Hollywood sign was originally created in 1923 as an advertisement for a local real estate development, but it garnered increasing recognition after the sign was left up, and became a symbol off Hollywood, and also of the American film industry in general.
