Matthew 6: "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6: And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 "This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6: Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.' 14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 ut if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

I. The Purpose of Prayer To gain people’s attention? Man in Prayer—for YOU! or Woman in Prayer—for YOU.

得到神的注意 ! To gain God’s attention! 獎賞 /Reward = 答應我們的禱告 /Answer our prayer.

II. The Way of Prayer A. Choose a place that we can focus on God. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 【 Matt 6:6 】

4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. 【 Ps 139:4 】 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. 【 Heb 4:13 】

II. The Way of Prayer B. Do not need to be repetitious 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 【 Matt 6:7~8 】

The Content of Prayer 9 "This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ (Matt 6:9-13)

III. The Content of Prayer Jesus is saying, “This is how you pray”, Not saying, “This is what you pray”.

3 prayers for God: God’s name, God’s kingdom, God’s will. 3 prayers for us: our needs, our forgiveness, our temptation.

Jews: Sovereign Lord/ 獨一的主宰 King of the Universe/ 宇宙的王 Jesus: Our Father/ 我們的天父

For the believers in Christ: 6 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." 【 Gal 4:6 】

17 Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'" 【 John 20:17 】

III. The Content of Prayer A. Hallowed be your name. 1. We sanctify God’s name. 2. God, not us, is the center of the prayer.

Maranatha! Come, O Lord ! 主啊, 你來 ! (1Cor 16:22)

13 但我們照他的應許，盼 望新天新地，有義居在其 中。【彼後 3:13 】 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.(2Pet 3:13)

20 證明這事的說：是了， 我必快來！阿們！主耶 穌阿，我願你來！ 20 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. 【 Rev 22:20 】

III. The Content of Prayer C. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!

如怎麼樣給與 /giving. 怎麼樣愛你的仇敵 /love your enemies 讓你的話是就是, 不是就不是 /Let your word, yes be yes, and no be no. 與你所愛的保持一體的關係 /Maintain one flesh relationship with your loved one. 不可殺人 /Do not murder. 八福 /Beatitude

III. The Content of Prayer C. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven! 1. Study your Bible—So you know what is God’s will. 2. Practice what you learned.
