Agenda Product Overview Product overview Key Feature Setting up of Device Setting up of DAP-1360  Access Point Mode  Repeater Mode  Bridge Mode  Client Mode Administration

Product Overview The DAP-1360 Wireless N Access Point connects to wireless computers and devices to let you share your Internet connection with multiple computers in your house. You can now create your own personal wireless home network to share your wireless Internet connection, documents, music, and photos.

Product Overview

Key Features 1 LAN port (10/100 Mbps) 2 x 2dBi Omni-directional detachable antennas 2.4GHz wireless b/g/n channels WEP 64/128bit WPA/WPA2 – Personal (PSK)/Enterprise (RADIUS) WPS support 5 modes of operation Access Point Client Repeater Bridge (WDS) Bridge (WDS) with AP

Setting up of DAP-1360 Access Point Mode

Setting up of Device Connect the DAP-1360 to the network. Open a web browser, go to URL It will open the device web configuration interface. Login with username ‘admin’ and leave the password blank as default. You can also connect it directly to the PC using a LAN cable. Give a static IP to the PC of and access the DAP at DAP-1360 is defaulted at this Static IP. (No DHCP)

Setting up of Device Go to ‘Setup’ tab, ‘Wireless Setup’ sub-tab. Choose Wireless mode as ‘Access Point’. Enter the user’s choice of a wireless network name (SSID). Note: Set “ Mode” to Mixed b/g/n for better compatibility. Enable “Auto Channel Scan” unless encounter wireless interference. Set “Channel Width” to 20/40MHz to enjoy 300Mbps wireless speed. (Wireless N mode)

Setting up of Device Select a security mode for the wireless network and enter a password of user’s choice. Note: Switch to WEP mode if there is compatibility issue with existing b/g client. (Wireless speed will drop to 54Mbps) Using TKIP as Cipher type will also decrease wireless speed to 54Mbps.

Setting up of DAP-1360 Repeater Mode

Setting up of Device Go to ‘Setup’ tab, ‘Wireless Setup’ sub-tab. Choose Wireless mode as ‘Repeater’. Enter the main router’s wireless parameters manually or click on ‘Site Survey’ button to scan the surrounding area.

Setting up of Device Check the radio button on the ‘Select’ column and click ‘Connect’ at the bottom of the page.

Setting up of Device Basic parameters such as SSID, Wireless Mode, mode, Channel Width, Security Mode and Cipher Types will be copied from the main router. User will have to input the wireless password manually for the main router for the DAP to connect to the main router.

Setting up of DAP-1360 Bridge Mode

Setting up of Device Go to ‘Setup’ tab, ‘Wireless Setup’ sub-tab. Choose Wireless mode as ‘Bridge’. Wireless parameters will have to be entered manually (Channel, n Mode, Channel Width, Transmission rate) Enter the MAC of the remote AP (Another DAP-1360) and the security mode and password between the devices.

Setting up of DAP-1360 Client Mode

Setting up of Device Go to ‘Setup’ tab, ‘Wireless Setup’ sub- tab. Choose Wireless mode as ‘Wireless Client’. User can enter the SSID manually or do a site survey to scan the surrounding area for the main router to connect. Enter the wireless security parameters of the main router that the DAP-1360 will be connecting to. If you disable MAC clone, the DAP-1360 will fill the source MAC address field of all packets that it forwards with its own MAC address. If you enable this option, manually type in a different source MAC address for the DAP-1360 to use in all packets that it forwards.

Setting up of DAP-1360 Administration

Setting up of Device Go to ‘Advanced’ tab, ‘Access Control’ sub-tab. Use MAC Filters to allow or deny wireless clients, by their MAC addresses, from accessing the DAP You can manually add a MAC address or select the MAC address from the list of clients that are currently connected to the AP (Connected PCs). The default setting is Disable MAC Filters.

Setting up of Device Go to ‘Advanced’ tab, ‘User Limit’ sub-tab. The D-Link DAP-1360 can set a limit upon the number of wireless clients. Using user limit, you can prevent scenarios where the DAP-1360 in your network shows performance degradation because it is handling heavy wireless traffic.

Setting up of Device Go to ‘Maintenance’ tab, ‘Schedules’ sub-tab. Schedules can be created for use with enforcing rules. For example, if you want to restrict web access to Mon-Fri from 3pm to 8pm, you could create a schedule selecting Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, and Fri and enter a Start Time of 3pm and End Time of 8pm.
