SLDS Project Goal Design, develop and implement a longitudinal data system that stakeholders can draw upon to make well-informed decisions about improving student achievement.

P-20 Data Systems Questions What % of high school graduates enrolled in college within 15 months of graduation? What curricular or environmental factors affect student progress? What factors help students transition to college, year college or enter workforce? Which programs/strategies are most effective? How is student success in college related to high school courses, grades, and test scores? What role does geographic mobility play? Source: Data Quality Campaign

Statewide SIS Objectives Implement a new State data management system by August Establish a means of electronically reporting school, staff and student data from School Units to the DOE. Establish a means for the Maine DOE to report required State and Federal data. Reduce the number of reports that are submitted to the DOE by School Units. Provide centrally hosted student information system functionality for optional use by local School Units.

New State System Replace Existing MEDMS System Add more upload capabilities Staff Data Special Education data Safe/Drug-Free data SIF 2.0 Certified Easier Data Transfer Process Leverage PowerSchool SIF Agent

Statewide SIS – State Edition MEDMS/Infinite Campus State Edition Went live September 2, 2008 Student enrollment data WebEx training Next release January 2009 Future projects Special Education School Health NCLB report card tractID=10 tractID=10

Infinite Campus State Edition Easier Student Transfer Process Student Look-up Web-based request for records Role-Based Security School Level Teacher/Class Level Greater Stakeholder Access More Detailed Reporting

Statewide SIS – District Edition Synchronizes State reporting fields with State Edition 8 sites, 23,000 students Fall 2008 Conversions – Wave 1 16 alternative plan sites, 35,000 students Go-live spring 2009 Winter 2009 Conversions – Wave 2 Regional School Units

Infinite Campus District Edition Optional for School Units State pays annual license and support fees Includes data migration and on-site training Centrally Hosted by Infinite Campus Totally web-based No local servers Web Portal Parent Access Student Access
