A puzzle is a challenge that tries the skill of the solver. A simple puzzle will link together pieces in a clever way in order to reach the desired solution or in many cases, a picture. Puzzles are a resource of fun, but they resort to mathematical reasoning also. The solver must recognize the different shapes and patterns. It has been determined that individuals with a higher level of reasoning ability may the better puzzle solver. There is a puzzle that is missing several pieces. The only way to have a complete puzzle is by selecting the correct pieces that interlock. Several people have tried to solve this puzzle but no one has been successful up to this point. Game Directions The goal of the game is to fit all of the puzzle pieces together. To play the game you have to solve the math questions in order to find the correct puzzle piece. To win the game you have to find all correct puzzle pieces and have a completed puzzle. Navigation Pane Stop

Educational Objectives Audience –The game is designed for a 9th grade Algebra I class Subject Area Objectives Math 1.1 Students will learn to solve one-step equations in one variable. 1.2 Students will learn to solve two-step equations in one variable. 1.3 Students will learn to solve multi-step equations in one variable. 1.4 Students will learn to solve equations with variables on both sides. Language Arts 3.1 Identify the purpose for writing (i.e., to inform, to describe, to explain, to persuade). 3.2 Identify the audience for which a text is written. 3.3 Select an appropriate thesis statement for a writing sample. 3.4 Rearrange multi-paragraphed work in a logical and coherent order. 3.5 Select illustrations, descriptions, and/or facts to support key ideas. Steps to Solving Equations 5 1. Isolate the terms that contain the variable you wish to solve for. 2.Isolate the variable you wish to solve for. 3. Substitute your answer into the original equation and check that it works. Navigation Pane Stop

Time to Play As you begin the process of building your puzzle remember the steps for solving equations. If you do not correctly solve the equation try again. It is your goal to be the first person to complete this difficult puzzle. But you must solve the equation before you can find the puzzle piece or move forward.
