 Introduction  You are the young DJ and you were hired to play____ Parties. If you charged $150 for each show how much money did you make.

 How did you work out the amount of money you made?  Was it easy or time consuming ?  Using Excel there is an easier way

 The SUM function can be used to add values (numbers) in a range.  =sum(range) eg: = sum(B2:B5)

 In order to use the SUM function you must first highlight an empty cell  Then you place the = sign first.  Then the Sum function.  You then use the open brackets (  Then write the range of cells that contain the numbers you want to add.  Close this off with the closing )  You then press enter.

 The Average function is used to find the average or arithmetic mean for a rage of numbers.  The format that is used is the same as sum.  The average function adds up all the numbers in the range and then divides the answer by the number. The steps are also the same

 The AVERAGE function can be used to find the average of a group values (numbers) in a range.
