The purpose of this research is to identify in what way college students rely on their cell phones and to explore problems of overusing cell phones. The usage of cell phones has been increasing in the world: According to CTIA (2011), there are million mobile phone subscribers in the United States by the end of 2011 ( as cited in Salehan & Negahban, 2013). More recently data from CTIA report is showing the number of mobile reach to million phone subscribers in December Cell phones became important assets for human beings and are utilized in many ways. Many people are addicted to their cell phones and it affects their social life, academic, and professional performance. Ownership of cell phones is increasing from 65% to 91% from the period of 2005 to 2013 in United States The highest percentage of cell phone ownership is the group of people between the ages of 18 to 34 Introduction

Methodology we used to address the research questions is mixed methods; quantitative and qualitative research. The survey uses three open ended questions designed to get descriptive and qualitative information our mixed approach uses peer reviewed articles to situate our research within the gaps and limitations of the field. The survey was sent out to 75 students at CSU San Bernardino, CSU Fullerton, and Cal Poly Pomona. The responses are 70 students (93.33%) and 61 of surveyor (81.33%) have been completed the entire questions.

Research Questions RQ1: Examining if the phone subscriber ownership of college students is greater than the ownership percentage in US. RQ2: Examining whether the average college students spend hours on his/her cell phone more than average American spends on his or her mobile phone every day? RQ3: a) Examining how the cell phones affect student learning? b) In addition, to examine how do cell phones affect student’s behavior & life? RQ4 : What do cell phones mean to students?

Data Collection and Analysis RQ1 : Examining if the phone subscriber ownership of college students is greater than the ownership percentage in United States. Our research methods based on statistical independent-measures test Probability compare (Mertler, 2012, pp ).

Result & Discussion Purpose for the research The purpose of this research is to identify in the cell phone obsession issue how impact to the student on the learning & their social behavior. What way college students rely on their cell phones and to explore problems of overusing cell phones

Result from research RQ1 : Examining if the phone subscriber ownership of college students is greater than the ownership percentage in US. Yes, is greater, 172% vs 97%, significance ! Yes, significance, Disturb their study, high % of students reply they use their phone during the class, feel depress, lonely when they lost the phone..etc RQ4: What do cell phones mean to students? Positive v.s. Negative

Discussion Questions: What’s problem which we found after our research ? 1.From the research we found out the college student spend too much time daily at their cell phone, too depends on the cellphone, lost the at reading facial expressions, you don't learn how to read nonverbal language. 2.If we are all walking in the streets glued to our cell phones, who is going to pay attention to our clothes? Who is going to say hello to you? The fact is that obsession to cell phone is ca using problems:  Car Accidents resulting  Less conversation between people  Distractions in school classes and job environments 3. From our research we found almost 70% of college student using their cell phone in the class (during the lecture), what’s impact from this kind behavior ? 4.From our research 62% of student have “cell phone activity” when they are driving, either text message, make phone call, searching internet. What kind of social problem will occur ?

Recommendations There is no doubt that cell phone are great technology that make our lives easier and help us communicate. But let’s be honest… we shouldn’t use them all the time just to entertain ourselves. Life is not always about entertainment. If you think you are addicted to your cell phone you should seriously try to cure your obsession. Here are some action might able to help solve your cell phone addiction:  Turning off the cell phone when you are driving  Turning off your cell phone before you get into the classroom  Get your friends to try a every week one “No Texting day” “  Limit yourself to check phone message or internet 3 time per day, unless any urgent circumstance.  Suggest to do a project for school about raising awareness about cell phone obsession (collect surveys, make statistics).

Conclusion Please keep in mind that cell phone obsession doesn’t have to ruin your life, your work, or your relationships with others. If these tips still don’t help, it might be a sign that cell phone obsession is more of an issue in your life than you realized. A psychotherapist who has experience in treating obsession can often help in such a case, and it is a treatment you should explore if you can’t reduce cell phone use on your own. Although the cell phone is not the top reason for causing the car accident at this moment, but we must be aware anything happen not just destroy your life also will impact other people’s life and family.
