2013 TAC Workshop- Social Technology New Initiatives Subcommittee Sept 2012

Workshop Description Focus:  How to utilize social technology to enhance the value of NEM conferences for AIAA members and stakeholders  Need to involve regions and local groups to provide input, and drive insertion from the bottom-up, in addition to institute wide schemes  The workshop will be used to discuss ideas and concepts, provide background and current status of existing social tech usage within AIAA, and to seek feedback and comments Products:  NIS will prepare a briefing to TAC discussing the potential role of social technology within AIAA, and a recommended path forward  The briefing will include a plan for the incorporation of any social tech into AIAA events  ADS Conference in March 2013 has volunteered to be a test bed for some activities 2

Workshop Details Sunday 6 th January 12:00 – 17:00  Lunch 12:00 – 12:45 Expect attendees based on previous years Committee would like to invite a consultant/advisor in social tech from outside of the aerospace industry to speak at the workshop  This would provide a different perspective and accurately identify expectations and limitations, including the relative cost of individual activities NIS currently soliciting input from marketing or website personnel from industry, academia, and government 3
