Presentation transcript:

Renewable sources of energy - an energy source which uses is not associated with their long-term deficits, because their supply is renewed in a short time. Such sources are: wind, sunlight, rain, tides, waves and geothermal. Renewable energy sources meet about 8,5% of the energy needs of humanity, of which 6,5% meets hydropower. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century global investment in renewable energy sources are growing in an exponential way.

ENERGY SOLAR ENERGY BIOMASS WIND ENERGY ENERGY WATER GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

SOLAR ENERGY- the type of industry, dealing with the use of solar energy classified as renewable energy sources.

BIOMASS- Through the photosynthesis, solar energy is accumulated in the biomass plant organisms initially, later in the animal food chain. The energy contained in the biomass can be used for human purposes. This involves the processing of other forms of energy by biomass burning or incineration degradation products. As a result of the heat of combustion is obtained, which can be processed into other forms of energy, such as electricity.

WIND ENERGY- the kinetic energy of moving air masses. It is processed into electricity using wind turbines, as well as mechanical energy used in wind turbines and wind pumps and as a prime mover in sailing yacht. Kisielice

Geothermal energy - heat the rocks located inside the Earth. It is collected by drilling, which is cold pressed and received hot water after heat exchange with the hot rocks. Geothermal energy is used in 64 countries. It is used in several places in Poland especially in spa resorts, pools etc Bukowina Tatrzańska Tarnów

Hydropower - uses economically mechanical energy of running water. Today, hydropower is usually processed into electricity. It can also be used directly to drive the machines - there are many solutions in which flowing water drives a turbine or water wheel. Solina - hydropower energy in Poland

RENEWABLE SOURCES OF ENERGY IN POLAND

 Wind energy is uncontrollable and this feature makes difficult the development of wind power plants. The most favourable conditions for wind energy in Poland are in the northern and eastern parts of the country. In those regions windmills are located. Currently in Poland there are 619 wind installations working of the total capacity about 2188 MW. A big development of the electricity production based on wind energy is foreseen in the nearest future. According to governmental sources with the total capacity of 6670 MW in year WIND ENERGY PRODUCTION Tymień

 Reserves of hydroenergy in Poland are not high, as they are estimated to about 50 PJ per year and are the lowest reserves of all renewable energy sources in Poland. Nevertheless the reserves are relatively well developed. HYDROENERGY Rożnów

 Although the reserves of solar energy in Poland are relatively high, their utilisation is not easy because of high irregularity of solar radiation. Solar energy is used to small extend in solar and photovoltaic installations. SOLAR ENERGY

 Poland’s potential and reserves of geothermal energy are relatively high. The perspective reserves of geothermal waters occur in many regions of Poland. Majority of the water is characterised by low enthalpy and high mineralization. GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

The biomass can be divided into:  Solid biofuels  Liquid biofuels  Gaseous biofuels Biofuels such as wood and straw are used for the heat production purposes, mainly in individual stoves. It is estimated that the total capacity of installed stoves for wood firing reaches 6100 MJ/s. In Poland about 185 stoves for straw firing is exploited of the total capacity 95 MJ/s. BIOMASS ENERGY

In the province of Lublin many homes use solar panels, these are 2 examples of them

Our supermarkets use renewable energy sources too – wind energy

Our school is using solar panels to light up pedestrian crossing located next to our school
