n° 4 Directorate General for Energy and Transport CIVITAS I evaluation – main results l Measures with high success rate: Clean vehicles and alternative fuels, mobility management, cycling measures, parking measures and intelligent transport management and information l Measures with high failure rate: Goods distribution and logistics, multimodal interchange, zones with controlled access and road pricing l Measures ‘in between’: Promotion of public transport and shared car ownership or car use

n° 5 Directorate General for Energy and Transport CIVITAS evaluation – main lessons l Measure acceptability can be increased by: u a strong early commitment from stakeholders u structural and visible partnership arrangements u exploiting the opportunities of policy synergies u using different tools to increase user acceptance u sound financial management and planning u targeted marketing and public relations u ensuring availability and maturity of new technology u financial and political commitment from the EU
