Total Address Quality

Total Address Quality 2 OSV At A Glance OSV produces over 500 Million envelopes every year! OSV processes over 4 Million addresses every month! The volume of mail processed by us allows us to get the lowest possible price for all the mailings from USPS provided we insure compliance with their rules and policies.

Total Address Quality 3 Starting with the roll of paper…

Total Address Quality 4 We produce over 500 Million envelopes annually in our state-of-the-art facility In Huntington, Indiana.

Total Address Quality 5 Our production systems incorporate leading-edge IMB (Intelligent Mail Barcoding). This process confirms the items we have produced and tracks them through Post Office locations.

Total Address Quality 6 Major Address Errors

Total Address Quality 7 Old Address New Address Forward 1.99 Billion pieces $422 Million Return 1.6 Billion pieces $823 Million Waste 6.14 Billion pieces $270 Million x 9.7 Billion pieces could not be delivered Total Cost - $1.9 Billion 2004 UAA* Report *Undeliverable As Addressed

Total Address Quality 8 Since November 23, 2008, any list used in a First- Class or Standard mailing has to undergo USPS- approved address correction (“Move Update”) every 95 days. This is a stricter mandate for First-Class Mail, and a major change for Standard mailings that previously had no such requirements at all. This means more effective mailings, but causes a considerable process shift for us.

Total Address Quality 9 Move Update Approved Move Update Methods: NCOA Address Change Service (ACS) Change Service Requested Address Service Requested

Total Address Quality 10 NCOA: Secure USPS database of approx. 160 million address changes Available only to licensees using USPS approved software OSV is licensed as the NCOA service provider by USPS Access to 18 months of data on address changes Updates from USPS every week...

Total Address Quality 11 The Address Change Service (ACS) is an automated process that provides change- of-address information to participating mailers (such as OSV) who maintain computerized mailing lists. USPS sends this information to OSV electronically. The TAQ process automatically captures these changes and updates our database.

Total Address Quality 12 The Total Address Quality solution includes: CASS certification which comprises of: Address standardization, DPV - Delivery Point Validation & LACS - Locatable Address Correction service AND NCOA - National Change Of Address service.

Total Address Quality 13 The Total Address Quality solution also includes : ACS - Address Correction Service and IMB - Intelligent Mail Barcoding. TAQ will provide the most thorough cleansing and updating of the addresses on an ongoing basis.

Total Address Quality 14 You need not remember all the Postal terms. Just remember: TAQ and OSV!!

Total Address Quality 15 More Changes Are Coming!!! Effective May 2011, USPS will require “Intelligent Mail Barcodes” in order to qualify for automation prices.

Total Address Quality 16 The Intelligent Mail barcode:  Has a greater overall data capacity than existing barcodes.  Provides mailers with more digits for unique identification.  Provides more detailed information about mailings.  Increases mailpiece “real estate”.  Allows for participation in multiple USPS service programs with a single barcode.
