 Hitler has came to power in Germany  Hitler and Mussolini have allied with intentions of expansion.  Germany has gained the Sudetenland from the Czech Republic  Prime Minister Chamberlin has allowed Hitler to keep the Sudetenland as part of Appeasement.  The USSR and Germany have signed a non- aggression pact.

 One week after Germany and USSR signed pact, Germany invades Poland. ◦ USSR follows about 2 weeks after that.  German/Soviet Side– 2,000,000 units  Polish Side– 950,000

 Germany invades from 3 sides. After Russia invades a week later, Poland is surrounded.  After the initial ground invasion, Germany follows with an air raid to further destroy Poland.  Invasion began on 9/1/39 and ends on 10/6/39.

German/Russian/Slovaki an Polish  Germany– About 50,000 dead, wounded, or missing.  USSR– 5,327 dead, wounded or missing  Slovakia– 182 dead, wounded or missing  66,000 dead  133,700 wounded  694,000 captured

 Poland is completely occupied by Germany/USSR.  France and Germany declare war on Germany.
