Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC The Calendar – Obligatory Days Name the seven DeMolay Obligatory Days

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC The Calendar – Obligatory Days The Seven Obligatory Days Patriots’ Day Devotional Day Parents’ Day My Government Day Frank S. Land Memorial Day Day of Comfort Educational Day

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC Obligatory Days Patriot’s Day Patriots’ Day On a day convenient to the Chapter during February, each Chapter should arrange a special Patriots' Day meeting observing the Country's great patriotic events and the great patriots who participated in them. The Standard Bearer usually directs this observance. Events on this day can include: Pay tribute to living veterans. Have a patriotic speaker at a chapter meeting. Read a short biography of someone whose actions made the Country great

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC Obligatory Days Devotional Day Devotional Day On the Sunday nearest to March 18, it is the duty of Chapter members to attend church or synagogue/temple as a group. The religious beliefs and creed of each DeMolay are his own, and he is encouraged to be a devout follower of its teachings. Observance of this day allows for an opportunity to publicly show our reverence of those personal beliefs. Some ways to take part in the service: Reading scripture. Playing the organ/piano. Singing a hymn. Purchasing altar flowers in memory of DeMolays that have passed away. Provide the refreshments for the social time following the service

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC Obligatory Days Parent’s Day Parents’ Day Because the home and love of parents is essential to building good citizens, DeMolays should give special emphasis to Parents' Day, which is observed on a day between May 1st and Jun 21st. Some ways to observe Parent’s Day: Have a special meeting honouring parents and perform the Flower Talk and/or the Father Talk Have an appreciation dinner for the parents, where they don’t have to cook it.

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC Obligatory Days My Government Day My Government Day Observed during the month of July, My Government Day is designed to explain the government of the country, province or community in which the Chapter is located. Events on this day can include: Take part or observe a Canada Day Parade Visit your City Hall or Municipal Building and witness one of their council meetings Obtain a proclamation from the leader of your Municipality declaring it DeMolay Month/Day/Week

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC Obligatory Days Frank S. Land Day Frank S. Land Memorial Day Schedule a convenient day near November 8 th, the day on which the founder of the Order of Demolay, Frank S. Land died, to memorialize and pay tribute to him. On this day, Chapters are encouraged to carry out special fundraising effort and donate the proceeds to a DeMolay charity. Events on this day can include: Present a copy of the book "Hi Dad" to a local public or school library. Honour your Advisors for their work with the chapter.

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC Obligatory Days Day of Comfort Day of Comfort This special day should be held during the Thanksgiving-Christmas season on a day convenient to the Chapter. On DeMolay's Day of Comfort, every member of DeMolay should make an effort to visit the sick and carry words of comfort to those who are confined. Events on this day can include: Visit Patients in homes or hospitals. Take something to give out. It does not have to be something major – a flower or a small toy. Collect food and or volunteer for the needy, a local community kitchen, food pantry or food bank. Bring Hot Chocolate/Coffee to local Salvation Army Bell Ringers Sponsor a bingo or a party at a center for confined elders or youth.

Produced by Dad John Ticknor for ACC Obligatory Days Educational Day Educational Day On Educational Day, a day convenient to the Chapter, it is the duty of each Chapter to arrange a program emphasizing the value of an education and the fact that we see the public schools as a particular bulwark of our liberty. Events on this day can include: Have an educator give a talk on becoming a teacher. Have chapter members research their future career goals together, and present them to one another. Have one of the advisors speak on the necessity of a good education and how it helped them in their life.
