INFRARED WAVES BY: EMILY OPPENHEIMER AND PHOEBE KIMMELMAN

What are infrared waves?  The name infrared comes from the Latin word infra, meaning below, and the English word red (as in the color).

What are the frequency/wavelength of infrared waves?  Wavelength = – meters  Frequency = – Hz  Wavelength = – meters  Frequency = – Hz

Is your type of waves considered relatively high or low in energy?  The frequency is relatively low  This means that this type of wave is low in energy  The frequency is relatively low  This means that this type of wave is low in energy

What are the effects of your wave on humans?  Infrared waves that have frequencies closest to red are not known to have an effect on humans  Infrared waves with longer wave lengths can hurt the body  Infrared waves that have frequencies closest to red are not known to have an effect on humans  Infrared waves with longer wave lengths can hurt the body

What uses/applications does your wave have?  Night vision equipment  Infrared filters are used to capture red light (on the very bottom scale of visible light since visible light and infrared light are so close to each other)  Night vision equipment  Infrared filters are used to capture red light (on the very bottom scale of visible light since visible light and infrared light are so close to each other)
