NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASE What is a noncommunicable disease?

It is: A disease that cannot be spread from person to person or a medical condition or disease which is non-infectious. They are diseases of long duration and generally slow progression. Risk factors such as a person's background, lifestyle and environment are known to increase the likelihood of certain of these diseases. Examples of non communicable diseases are:

Interesting Facts Every year, at least 5 million people die because of tobacco use About 2.8 million die from being overweight. High cholesterol accounts for roughly 2.6 million deaths. 7.5 million die because of high blood pressure. By 2030, deaths due to chronic non communicable diseases are expected to increase to 52 million per year.
