Edmodo’s Role In The School

Pro’s It is a brilliant way to stay connected with your class, and for them to stay connected with each other.I It is very easy to give students feedback on their work – no matter what they upload, you can leave a comment attached to it. It is a fantastic way to teach social media – its amazing how many students claim to be fantastic at social media and yet have difficulty posting relevant topics and commenting in a constructive way. Edmodo is a safe space for them to learn. It allows you to connect just with a specific group in your classroom, so not everyone has to read the resources you found for that particular small group. Cons It is difficult for students to upload work from their iPads – it is a multi-step process, and something always seems to go wrong. No access to computer???????

So far in 1 st Yr All 1 st Yr students have set up Edmodo. Passwords in journal. Letter sent to parents

2nd Yr need reminding of Edmodo accounts. Passwords need reminding. Letter sent to parents. to subject teachers

Team teaching ‘ Anytime you walk into another teachers classroom there’s going to be some kind of negotiation that needs to occur for both of you in terms of just territory and what’s asked of you. And that’s a tough thing to negotiate’ (Yoder, 2000 p. 150)

Types of Team Teaching Lead and support Teaching – one teacher leads the lesson assuming responsibility for teaching the content, the other teachers provides support and follow up activities. Parallel Instruction – the class is divided into two groups and each teacher delivers the same content and skills/ Both teachers are performing the same tasks in parallel fashion. Differentiated split-class/ Alternative team teaching – The class is divided into two groups according to a specified learning need. Each group is provided with activities to meet that specified Station Teaching - Teachers divide the responsibility of planning and instruction and students are rotated through stations. Teachers repeat instruction to each group that comes through –delivery may vary. Approach can be used even if teachers have different pedagogical approaches. Traditional Team Teaching – both teachers actively share the instruction of content and skills, both teachers accept equal responsibility for all pupils and both teachers are actively involved
