Common warts  Warts are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).(1)  HPV infects the squamous epithelium.(2)  HPV causes benign growths on the skin these growths are referred to as warts or papillomas. (2)

How did that get there?  HPV likes warm, moist places like small cuts or scratches.  Warts begin to grow and can grow for months even years before they are noticeable.  People who bite their nails get warts more often. s/images/en/19711.jpg
