Multiplying Fractions Essential Understanding: To multiply a fraction by a fraction, you simply multiply the numerators, then the denominators. To multiply a fraction by a whole number or a mixed number, you must first change the number to an improper fraction. Then, multiply the numerators and the denominators. Dividing Fractions Essential Understanding: To divide a fraction by a fraction, simply flip the second fraction and multiply.
