Definition of Plagiarism Detection Plagiarism detection is the process of locating instances of plagiarism within a work or document. The widespread use of computers and the advent of the Internet has made it easier to plagiarize the work of others.

Most cases of plagiarism are found in academia, where documents are typically essays or reports. However, plagiarism can be found in nearly any field, that includes scientific papers, art designs, and some of the source codes.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary  to steal and pass off (ideas or words of another) one's own  to use without crediting the source  to present new and original an idea derived from an existing source.

Plagiarism in all kinds of work has made people to sit and think regarding the ways to avoid plagiarism. Mainly two methods exist to avoid plagiarism. Avoiding Plagiarism  Plagiarism Prevention  Plagiarism Detection

HOW PLAGIARISM BE PREVENTED Plagiarism prevention is difficult to achieve and takes long time to inculcate but the effects are long term.  A collaborative effort should be made to recognize and to counter plagiarism at every level.

HOW PLAGIARISM BE DETECTED Plagiarism can be detected manually or with the help of software manual detection takes more effort. Now, the Software programming methods are much easier, simpler and faster to detect plagiarism.

SOFTWARES THAT CAN BE USE IN DETECTING PLAGIARISM Plagiarism detection software is accessible, affordable and effective, yet many common misperceptions exist about its use and limitations. Software Integrity Diagnosis System Viper JISC Electronic Plagiarism Detection

Software Integrity Diagnosis system approximates this metric by a heuristic compression algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that SID has clear advantages over other plagiarism detection systems.

Viper is a plagiarism detection software. It’s an invaluable tool for today’s hard-working and ambitious students. Because it will pick up on references, which enables you to see error that leads you to be accused.
