John F. Kennedy 35th President of the United States of America

Background Born 5/29/1917 Died1/22/1963 Grew Up in Brookline, Mass.

Obstacles Slipped a disk in his back playing football. Addison’s Disease later in his life. JFK had many illnesses as a child. These included “whooping caugh”, chicken pox, and measles. At three years old John got scarlet fever which was a potentially life threatening disease in the era and almost died from it.

Accomplishments Leader in the Space Race against the Soviets. Solved the Cuban Missile Crisis. Designed he Limited Nuclear Test Ban with Russia and United Kingdom Youngest man elected president and first Catholic to be President of the United States of America. Put an unrecorded amount of blacks to high positions in his administration which strengthened the Civil Rights Commission. “Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names.”

Media Viewpoint Had high approval ratings. Always between 50%- 80%. Very well liked for his breath taking speeches and the calmness in which he handled though situations. Even though he was a great American he was assonated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Has been the subject of many books, articles, etc…

So, let us not be blind to our differences - but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved
