Community Services Council of Brevard Project By Group 6 (The BEST group of the Class of 2007!)

Community Services Council Services Offered  Senior Helpline  Seniors Assistance Program  Community Care Programs  Brevard Senior Nutrition Programs (Meals on Wheels & Seniors at Lunch)  Sunflower House  Retired & Senior Volunteer Program  Community Home Services  Brevard Community Kitchen  Private Pay Services We Selected Projects for these programs/ services!

Meals on Wheels (Monday –Friday)  Dedicated to provide at least one wholesome meal that’s served to the most vulnerable residents of Brevard County  4000 Meals Delivered Weekly  576 Volunteers Year to Date  95 Separate Delivery Routes

Meals on Wheels Eligibility  Determined by need and not income based  Resident of Brevard County  Over the age of 60  Home Bound with no other meal preparation assistance

Meals on Wheels - Weekend Program  Only provided on a volunteer basis  Volunteers must pay for the meals and use their own cars  On average, seniors get one weekend meal a month from a volunteer organization  There are plenty of opportunities for the Brevard Community to work at increasing this average! This is what we decided to do!

Meals on Wheels – Our Experience  Began Saturday morning at the Community Services Kitchen in Rockledge  Process was explained  Divided up 10 Routes  Loaded up the meals & Off we went!

Meals on Wheels – Our Experience  Not only did we deliver a meal, but we also provided contact to the outside world for these seniors  A safety check  Good conversation

Sunflower House Project Goal To Help Seniors Become more Computer Efficient by Bringing Microsoft Digital Literacy Training to the Sunflower House

Sunflower House Project  What is Microsoft Digital Literacy Training/Certification Microsoft standard curriculum for computing awareness and basic skills training. Designed for adult learners new to computing Internet Based - eLearning Five Modules – Computer Basics, Internet & Web Basics, Productivity Software, Security & Privacy, Digital Lifestyle Completion and successful passing of module tests leads to a Certification

Sunflower House Project – Steps to Get There  Supplied three computers  Supplied a Train the Trainer person to help train our group and the Sunflower House staff & volunteers how to proctor this training  Scheduled Training Classes for the next month where we proctor the training  Participate in the scheduled training  Let Loose of the Sunflower House to proctor training to their Seniors  Another service has been developed for our Brevard Seniors!
