Classifying Triangles terms to know: Acute triangle Obtuse triangle Right triangle Scalene triangle Isosceles triangle Equilateral triangle

Notes- watch video and take notes on how to classify triangles OR take notes from book: Section 4-1 on pages in book Notes should include: Definitions of all terms, and drawings/examples for all SIX ways to classify triangles by side or angle. An explanation of the sum of measures of the angles of a triangle. Title your notes and examples “Classifying Triangles” and add the date and your name Notes should be used on assignments and should be left in folder.

Assignment (If you need a review of how to use a protractor, go here:) Assignment: Get a protractor, compass, rules, pencil, and paper. Go to this Youtube video: Follow along, and draw the three triangles drawn in the video.

Khan Assignment Go to Khanacademy.org and complete these skills: Triangle Angles 1 Area of Triangles Surface Area using nets

Essential Questions Explain why or why not: Can a triangle have an angle that is more than 180°? Explain why or why not: Can a triangle have more than one 90° angle? Explain why or why not: Can an equilateral triangle be a right triangle? Explain why or why not: Can an equilateral triangle be an obtuse triangle?

Leave all work in folder.
