Wednesday My Name; My Self Using your Name Survey HW answer one of the following questions? What is one thing that you learned and/or surprised you about your name? Do you like your name? If not, what would you change it to? What other names were picked out for you before you were born? **Daily Review – Week 3: Wednesday

Identity Narrative Pages Expressive writing that you will use to create a narrative about who you are. Form – varies depending on prompt and author preference Audience – teacher and peers Topic – YOU! (name, thoughts, feelings, interests, goals, who you admire) Purpose – to create a complete story about who you are (to explain, describe and entertain) Planning – writer’s notebook

August Identity Narrative Page My Name: My Self Using your Name Survey as a start, think about your name and what is means to you and reflects about you. Your assignment is to create an identity page about your name. Using a form of expressive writing that best represents who you are. FORM – your choice AUDIENCE – teacher and peers TOPIC – your name PURPOSE – to explain, describe, and/or inform PLANNING - use your Name Survey to generate ideas and use class time to get started Your page should include specific details that show your feelings, reflections, pain and blessings.

Your Identity Narrative Page must include: Each page must be one 8.5x11 piece of cardstock. (All pages must be the same size.) VISUAL - A recent photo of you. WRITING – Typed and attached to the base page. This is an expressive writing piece: poem, story, paragraphs – whatever is the best way for you tell about yourself. ***most important part – be detailed and specific!! Border – create a border for your page – all the way around or down one side. Title – give your page an original and creative title Name – your name as the author must be on the front of the page

Identity Narrative Rubric An A paper contains original ideas with relevant and appropriate details. It is well organized. Clear, precise and descriptive word choice and a well-developed writer’s voice are evident. There is variation in sentence length and complexity and no errors in conventions. * All components are present on the front of the cardstock (border, visual, name on front, creative title). A B paper contains adequate ideas that are supported by details. There is evidence of a good organizational plan. Word choice is appropriate, though lacking in precision and originality, and sentences may lack variety. A hint of writer’s voice may be apparent. Some errors in conventions. *All but one component are present on the front of the cardstock (border, visual, name on front, creative title). A C paper is likely to contain unoriginal ideas with limited support, or irrelevant details that do not support the main idea. The organization is weak. Word choice may be correct, but lacking maturity and sentences tend to be simple in structure. A writer’s voice may not be evident. Frequent errors in conventions are common, but the piece should be readable. Neatness may be an issue. *Some components are likely missing on the front of the cardstock (border, visual, name on front, creative title). A D paper contains trivial ideas without supporting details. It is characterized by an inadequate organizational plan, immature vocabulary, short, simple sentences and frequent errors in conventions that may, at times, interfere with understanding of the piece. A writer’s voice may not be evident. Neatness may be an issue. * Some components are missing on the front of the cardstock (border, visual, name on front, creative title).
