STANDARDIZATION OF AGROTECH STANDARDIZATION IN THE FIELD OF AGROTECH IS CARRIED OUT BY: TECHNICAL TEXTILES FOR AGROTECH APPLICATIONS SECTIONAL COMMITTEE, TXD 35 TO FORMULATE INDIAN STANDARDS SPECIFICATION AND METHOD OF TESTS FOR TECHNICAL TEXTILES USED IN HORTICULTURE, AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY ETC.

STANDARDS ON AGROTECH APPLICATION FOR TECHNICAL TEXTILES IN THE AGROTECH SECTOR INCLUDE ALL ACTIVITIES CONCERNED WITH THE GROWING AND HARVESTING OF CROPS AND ANIMALS. THE PRINCIPAL FUNCTION OF THE MOST AGRICULTURAL TEXTILES RELATE TO THE PROTECTION OF EITHER FOOD PRODUCED, ANIMALS OR LAND. THE ITEMS COVERED UNDER AGROTECH ARE FISHNETS, SHADE FABRICS, MULCH MATS, CROP COVERS, VERMIBEDS, POND LINING FABRICS ETC.

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 15907:2010 AGRO TEXTILES - HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) WOVEN BEDS FOR VERMICULTURE THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES CONSTRUCTIONAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) WOVEN BEDS FOR VERMICULTURE USED IN PRODUCING COMPOST FOR AGRICULTURAL PURPOSES

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 15351:2008 TEXTILES- LAMINATED HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE WOVEN FABRIC (GEO-MEMBRANE) FOR WATER PROOF LINING THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) WOVEN FABRIC (GEE-MEMBRANE) LAMINATED WITH LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (LDPE) OR SUITABLE COMBINATION OF LDPE AND LLDPE FOR USE AS LINING FOR CANAL, POND AND RESERVOIR TO CONTROL SEEPAGE AND FOR PROPER DISPOSAL OF INDUSTRIAL EFFLUENTS, ETC. HOWEVER, THE MATERIAL IS NOT SUITABLE FOR LINING OF ROOF/TERRACE.

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 2508:1984 SPECIFICATION FOR LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES THE REQUIREMENTS AND METHODS OF SAMPLING AND TEST FOR NATURAL AND BLACK COLOUR ( CARBON BLACK PIGMENT ) LOW DENSITY POLYETHYLENE FILMS INTENDED FOR PACKAGING, CANAL LINING, AGRICULTURAL OPERATIONS AND POST HARVEST USES, CONSTRUCTION WORK AND ALLIED PURPOSES. THIS STANDARD COVERS FLEXIBLE, UNSUPPORTED FLAT OR TUBULAR FILMS 12.5 TO 250 MICROMETER IN THICKNESS AND WIDTH 175 TO 7 500 MM ( 350 TO 15 000 MM SLIT OPEN WIDTH IN THE CASE OF TUBULAR FILMS ), MADE FROM POLYETHYLENE MATERIALS.

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 15177:2002 SURFACE COVERED CULTIVATION-PLASTICS MULCHING-CODE OF PRACTICE THIS STANDARD COVERS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE SELECTION OF PLASTICS MULCH FILM AND THE METHODS OF APPLICATION.

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 7533 POLYAMIDE MONOFILAMENT LINE FOR FISHING. THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES THE REQUIREMENTS OF POLYAMIDE (NYLON) MONOFILAMENT LINE USED GENERALLY IN HOOK AND LINE FISHING.

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 4401 TWISTED NYLON FISHNET TWINE THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES THE CONSTRUCTIONAL DETAILS AND OTHER PARTICULARS OF UNDYED TWISTED NYLON TWINES OF THE FOLLOWING TWO TYPES USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF FISHING NETS: A) TYPE 1 — GILL NET TWINES (GNT) USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF GILL NETS, AND. B) TYPE 2 — TRAWL TWINE (TLT) USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF TRAWL NETS

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 14287 PP MULTIFILAMENT NETTING TWINE THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES THE CONSTRUCTIONAL DETAILS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF POLYPROPYLENE MULTIFILAMENT NETTING TWINES USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF FISHING NETS

STANDARDS PUBLISHED IS 6347 PE MONOFILAMENT TWINE FOR FISHING THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES REQUIREMENTS OF HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE MONOFILAMENT TWINES USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF FISHING GEAR.

STANDARDS UNDER DEVELOPMENT DOC.TXD 35(1003)TEXTILES - SHADE NETS FOR AGRICULTURE AND HORTICULTURE PURPOSES-SPECIFICATION THIS STANDARD PRESCRIBES CONSTRUCTIONAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR SHADE NETS FOR AGRICULTURE AND HORTICULTURE PURPOSES IN PROTECTING/ INCREASING CROP YIELD BY PROVIDING CONTROLLED CLIMATIC CONDITIONS FOR THE INTENDED CROPS. THIS STANDARD SPECIFY THREE TYPE OF SHADE NETS BASED ON THE SHADING FACTOR OF 50, 75 AND 90%
