 The Chinese dancer expresses their thoughts and feelings with ease and grace.  It has it’s own unique vocabulary.

 Traced dance back before the appearance of written Chinese characters.  Archeological artifacts revealed that the people of the Neolithic Yan-Shao culture around the 4 th millennium BC already had choreographed group dances.

 Dancers held feather banners that symbolized fruits of the days hunting and/or fishing  This gradually developed into the dance used in sacrificial and religious rituals.

 Dancers carried weapons  Moved forward and back in coordinated motions  Used to express respect for the spirits of heaven and earth.  Dancer brought pleasure to performers and audience.  Similar dances are still used at some military schools.

 Dance entered a period of extraordinary brilliance.  Founded by Imperial Court.  The Pear Garden Academy  The Imperial Academy  Tái-Cháng Temple  All top dancers in the country.

 Included dance from China, Korea, Sinkiang, India, Persia, and Central Asia into one big dance.  Featured colorful stage costumes, props, poetry, songs, background music and a dramatic plot.

 Each aboriginal group has it’s own  Show the lifestyles and customs of the people participating in the dance.  Artistic values of people.

 First when you start to learn Chinese dance you learn ballet and modern dance.  Next, they study traditional Chinese dance  Only then do they actually learn how to do the moves.

 From Lin Huan-min.  It is the most modern dance group in Taiwan.

 Many Taiwan colleges have dance departments with teachers that have professional dance talent.  Top international dancers and dance groups are invited to perform in Taiwan.
