“I enjoyed the Super Learning day because we got to do lots of different art activities.” Alex (5J)

Mixed media self portraits Miss Gilchrist’s group looked at how artists have used mixed media to create self portraits. They learnt about the proportions of the different features of the face and used mirrors to study their own face to sketch. They then chose from a range of different materials to layer and build up their portrait. “I liked this activity because you could design your own portrait & use lots of different materials.” Kayleigh (3A) Motion Art In the ICT Suite children looked at photographs of winter scenes, sportsmen & women. They experimented with different methods to create a feeling of movement in ‘Paint.net’ before creating their own computer generated artwork. “This was fun- we got to import pictures & edit them with special effects.” Daniel (5W)

Wreath Making Mrs Jackson’s group got to make their own wreaths. They looked at different techniques that could be used with paper before creating their own. “I liked cutting up the hands & sticking them on - the finished wreaths looked great”. Sajida (3A) Winter scenes In Mrs Thompson’s class children looked at the painter ‘Breughel’s’ work before watching some tutorials on how to create a sense of perspective. They then created their own winter scene using oil pastels.

Winter typeface With Mrs Cox, children looked at a variety of typefaces. They generated ideas relating to winter before experimenting with several letters. After deciding on a design they carefully drew their chosen word onto paper. Finally they mounted their designs onto card to create a greetings card. “Designing our own typeface was really fun!” Darcy (4H) Winter silhouettes My Garrard’s group looked at methods used to create a winter scene silhouette. They painted different layers of colour and images onto card to create a striking image. “I liked using different techniques with the paint.” Brandon (6G)
