YOUR TASK: Create a MIXED MEDIA artwork based on an ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE Your work can be representational or partly non-objective or symbolic Along with your work, you will write a 1 page (250 words) research paper based on your chosen environmental issue

Possible Environmental Issue Topics: pesticides water pollution air pollution over population shark finning deforestation toxic waste landfills climate change global warming endangered species energy conservation renewable energy habitat destruction invasive species genetically modified foods controversies

STEPS: 1.Research and brainstorm as many ideas as possible for your chosen environmental issue. 2.Come up with sketches and references (pictures from magazines, books or the internet) and a rough draft of your artwork. Label what materials you will use and where. 3.Propose your idea to me (your idea, your sketches, a rough draft, why you want to do it and the materials that you will need). 4.Create your artwork. 5.Write and edit your research paper (must be at least 1 page, typed, double-spaced, telling about the environmental issue and why it is important to you). –What is the issue? –Why is it occurring, what are its causes? –Where is it occurring? –Who/what is affected? How? –What can be done to help/fix the problem? –How have you exhibited the issue in your art?
