Ancient Rome BY: Khalid Hamada

Roman Religion (TEMPLES) wj Many of the most beautiful buildings were temples. Every god had his own temple. Temples were small. People used to sacrifice animals on temple stairs. Walls of Roman Temples were painted in fresco (painted from outside)

Roman Religion (GODS) nnnnjdcc Every god had his own temple Every temple that was built for a specific god was protected by priests. Gods do no harm to people who obey them and keep them happy. When people wanted to thank a god or goddess they brought gifts of animals for sacrifice to the temple.

Religion (SPIRITS) Romans believed spirits were everywhere, in rocks, in lightning etc. Spirits either helped people, or harmed them. Every spirit had a statue built for them by the Romans. People offered spirits bread and wine to keep them happy.

System of government

System of government (CITIZENS & NON-CITIZENS) Women, slaves and people who were not born in Rome were not considered as citizens. Only people who were born in Rome were citizens. Anyone who was NOT a citizen was not allowed to choose who his leader was.

Education (STUDENTS) The rich people in Ancient Rome put a great deal of faith in education. Poor people did not get full education while rich people did. Boys from ages 7-12 went to primary school.

Education (GIRLS) Girls stayed at home and got taught how to run household by their mothers. Girls also got taught how to weave, sew etc. Girls were NOT allowed to go to school because the Roman belief says that girls should stay at home and take care of home-work etc.

Education (SOLDIERS) When boys grew, they got taught in physical education to prepare for war. They got taught how to use weapons and shields. Only the sons of nobles were allowed to become warriors.
