Climate Change Adaptation Planning Discussion Questions NMFWA 2014

Background The NMFWA meeting provides an opportunity to obtain geographically diverse feedback from natural resources professionals from installations with different missions and operational tempos, and different environmental and regulatory settings. Our objective for the interactive discussion is to consider opportunities and barriers to climate change adaptation on DoD installations from a broader perspective than the case study so that methods and recommendations can be developed that have broad applicability within DoD. We would also like to hear about the ideas participants have for climate change adaptation in their particular situations. In your professional opinion, based on your experience please provide answers to the following questions. Your responses do not necessarily represent the view in the installation’s Command but rather it is your assessment of the situation.

Questions 1.What are the primary climate change threats to the installation (does not have to be exhaustive)? 2.Identify any natural resource climate change planning and adaptation efforts related to natural resources occurring at the installation. This can include small efforts, e.g. inclusion of climate change adaptation language in the INRMP. 3.What are some key barriers to climate change adaptation at the installation? 4.What are some adaptation actions that could be useful in the future at the installation?
