Fractals A New Discovery

Begin your journey... You have entered a world of strange shapes: Fractals. What is a fractal? Is it more than an interesting shape? Who uses them and for what reason? In this Webquest, you will find the answers to these questions and even create your own. In groups of 2 or 3, you will work through this webquest and share what you have learned in a powerpoint presentation and create a poster to display in the hallway.

Here are some website links to help you complete your project

Your Powerpoint should answer the following: Write a good definition of a fractal? Find a mathematical formula used to generate a fractal and a picture of the fractal. Name and give an example 4 famous fractals. Find 2 people and give their history and explain what they did with fractals. What is self-similarity? Name and give a picture of 5 fractals found in nature? What is iteration? Name and give examples of 3 basic types of iteration. Find 6 fractals that you think are cool. Put them throughout your powerpoint. Create 4 fractals of your own using Tierazon software.
