Terrific Green Sea Turtles! Milana Munyon,

Appearance The green sea turtle is a reptile. This is the turtles plastron Appearance The green sea turtle is a reptile. It has black or brown on top of its shell or the carapace. it has white or yellow on its plastron.

Behavior They are very gentle creatures. Their cold blooded animals so they bask in the sun. They float on top of the water so seabirds land on their backs!

Weight and Length 250-450 pounds. When there baby they are 8 -10 inches long. When full grown they are 2 ½ - 5 feet long.

Mating Females mate when there 19-24 years old. They may nest up to 7 times in a 5 month mating period.

Multiplying The female green sea turtles swim all the way back to their birthplace wich ccould be over thousands of miles away to lay their egg! The female 100-120 eggs at a time. 50-55 days later they hatch.

Babies Their mother lays the eggs in the sand. The babies use their egg tooth to break the shell then they emerge together. Sadly many babies get eaten before they reach the water by rats snakes and birds and others that make it to the water get by sharks, dolphins, and fish.

Extra Facts They breath with their lungs and have scaly skin. They can live up to 100 years old. They are an endangered species.
