Lesson Plan  Content Area: Social Studies  Grade Level:4th  Summary: The purpose of this instructional PowerPoint is for students to learn about facts and information about the state they live in.  Learning Objective: Students will learn facts about the state of Tennessee. They will also be able to answer questions on the facts they have learned.  Content Standard:  Accomplishment: After finishing the slide they will know many different facts about the state of Tennessee by memory.

Facts  Visit this website to read about different facts about Tennessee.  The word Tennessee comes from an Indian word “Tana see” which means “the meeting place”.  Tennessee entered the union as the 16 th state in  The capitol of Tennessee is Nashville.

Facts  The state bird is the mocking bird.  The state flower is the iris.  The state tree is the tulip poplar.  The state wild animal is the raccoon.

The State Flag The three stars stand for the three main geographical area of the State: *East Tennessee *Middle Tennessee and *West Tennessee.
