What is self publishing? Getting a book published without using a major publishing company You do all of the work yourself (or you hire out some of it to other people) You pay for the publishing – you are not getting paid

Traditional Self Publishing You write it, edit it, design it, and market it yourself You contact someone to print it Have 1,000 copies sitting in your garage

Modern Self Publishing You still write the story You can still edit it, but there are online services that can do that for you You can pay $ to have the cover designed or you can use simple cover creators Print-On-Demand (POD) means that books are only printed when someone orders them You can conceivably publish a full-fledged book and pay $0
