2012 High School Admission Practices

Number of Applicants Number of Admits Average SAT Score Average ACT Score Average GPA 12,2297, (local) 3.04 (non-local) All admission requirements must be completed by the end of spring semester (no make-up work in summer). Applicants who are denied admission may appeal the decision in writing to the Director of Admissions no more than 15 days after applicants have been notified. Appeals will be reviewed and answered within 15 days after the request for the appeal has been reviewed by the Admissions Office.

CSUSB continues to declare campus-wide impaction for first-time freshmen for All admission requirements must be met by the end of spring 2013 for fall 2013 admission. High schools located within CSUSB’s defined local admission area will be admitted based on the minimum standard CSU admission requirements. Please refer to CSUSB Admissions website for eligibility index, local and non-local admission area and admission updates at Local Admission Areas (includes specific school districts within San Bernardino and Riverside counties) San Bernardino County School Districts Apple Valley, Chaffey, Colton, Fontana, Hesperia, Morongo, Redlands, Rialto, Rim of the World, San Bernardino City, Victor Valley and Yucaipa. Riverside County School Districts Banning, Beaumont, Coachella Valley, Desert Sands, Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley, Palm Springs and Riverside

Submit application during application priority filing period and meet all transcript, confirmation deposit of $100, Early Start Program (ESP), and document deadlines. Students should check their campus account and MyCoyote account regularly for important information from CSUSB. Attend CSUSB Presentations, Application and Financial Aid Workshops or CSUSB Open House event on Oct. 27, 2012 for information and assistance. Don't forget to submit AP/IB scores and to take EPT/ELM placement exams early. Remember, when a student is first admitted it's on a provisional or conditional basis. Their final transcripts must confirm that they have met all admission requirements.

The B.S.N. program is impacted and only admits new students in Fall and Winter quarters. Nursing website: Nursing accepts 80 B.S.N. students each year (supplemental application required). Deadlines for Nursing Admission applications are: – Fall quarter: January 1 st – March 1 st. – Winter quarter: September 1 st - October 1 st Pre-Nursing advising session is mandatory (Freshman will receive this during SOAR). Palm Desert Campus accepts 20 B.S.N. students every Fall term.

The B.A.S.W. program admits new students only in Fall quarter (supplemental application required). Social Work accepts 50 B.A.S.W. students each Fall. Deadline to apply for Fall is the end of March. The application packet is available to download at B.A.S.W. Admission Information Sessions available (not required) and freshman will receive pre-social work advising during SOAR.

The Kinesiology concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy (PPT) is impacted. Applications for Fall will begin on March 1 st - May 1 st of each academic year. Kinesiology PPT students can start any academic quarter and should declare their major as Kinesiology “undeclared” concentration. Students must earn a 3.2 GPA in all college/university coursework and all prerequisites. Kinesiology website:

Criminal Justice is the newest impacted major. Students should declare Pre-criminal justice as their major. Prerequisites must be completed with grades “C” or better. Upon successful completion of requirements, a student’s major will be changed automatically. Criminal Justice website:

The California Community Colleges offers a new degree program for students called the Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) which guarantees students admission into CSUSB. CSUSB currently offers the following similar degree programs for AA-T or AS-T: – Administration of Justice – Art History – Business – History – Mathematics – Physics – Political Science – Psychology – Sociology – Studio Arts

For Fall 2013, first time freshmen who have not demonstrated proficiency in English or mathematics based on their ELM or EPT score (s) will be required to begin remediation during summer 2013 through the Early Summer Program. Students may be exempt from the Early Start Program by: Scoring 50 or above on the ELM Scoring 138 or above on the EPT Exemption from EPT/ELM is based on SAT, ACT, AP, EAP Students will be notified if they have been admitted to CSUSB and required to participate in ESP. Students may fulfill the CSU Early Start Program requirement through an on-campus course or program at a destination campus, service campus, or California Community College.
