Christmas time and Epiphany

WE COME TO GOD IN PRAYER Alleluia! Christ has appeared to us. Come, let us worship him. Alleluia! Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

WE PRAY PSALM 96 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among all peoples. Glory to God in the highest.

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Glory to God in the highest.

Say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns’. He will judge the peoples with equity. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes. Glory to God in the highest.

GOD SPEAKS TO US We have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly.

(see seasonal Bible reading guide, or other Bible reading)

WE CONFESS OUR FAITH

(Apostles’ Creed, scriptural song, or hymn/song)

WE PRAY FOR OURSELVES AND THE WORLD We rejoice with Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and the wise men at the coming of our Lord Jesus. Let us pray to him. Lord Jesus: hear our prayer.

You have come to live among us, full of grace and truth. Live in our hearts, and show your grace to others through us. Lord Jesus: hear our prayer. You have brought us pardon and peace with our heavenly Father. Help us to please him by living at peace with each other. Lord Jesus: hear our prayer.

You are the Prince of Peace, Lord of all, and light for the world. Guide the nations, and help them work together for justice and peace. Lord Jesus: hear our prayer. You took on our human weakness, and you healed many people. Strengthen the weak, heal the sick, and comfort those who suffer. Lord Jesus: hear our prayer.

(Other prayers may follow)

Eternal God, thank you for sending your Son to be the light for the world. Guide the nations by his light, so that the whole world sees your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WE PRAY THE LORD’S PRAYER

GOD BLESSES US May God the Father show us the light of his glory in the face of his Son, so that we shine as a light in the world. And the blessing of almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be with us always. Amen.
